Case Study
Incentives Maximization
A US pharmaceutical manufacturing company was contemplating a major expansion at one of their locations or in another city for a $75-85 million project that would employ over 275 people.
Challenge
Peake Consulting was asked to analyze several locations for appropriate incentives that would maximize the company’s major investment. Once locations were identified, then the task was to negotiate the best possible incentive package.
Solution
Ms. Grissom and Ms. McIntosh handled the incentive negotiations. The project initially included locations in three states and took approximately 90 days. In collaboration with the company, they developed a strategy for obtaining optimal state and local incentives for the project.
As such, they reviewed issues such as tax structure and concerns, refundable tax credits, training, state and local property taxes and abatements, sales tax exemptions for construction materials, public bond financing, pollution control exemptions and cost segregation analysis.
Results
Over $18 million in tax and non-tax incentives, including
- $5.575 million in cash or grants
- $5 million in property tax exemption over 12 years
- $8.5 million in state supported bond financing
